The Tiersa Earring is made with teardrop shaped aluminum base - hand cast from smelted tin-cans in Madagascar - accented with 5 small Job's Tears - a seed that comes from a tropical grass - These earrings are lightweight, organic, recycled, sustainable, zero-waste, and unique!
'Tiersa' means 'delight' in Hebrew.
The hand cast aluminum used in making our lightweight earrings comes from smelted tin cans. They make a bold statement both in style and environmental sustainability!
Distaff&Spindle sources the aluminum shapes for our earrings from AluMada, the Fonderie de l'Ocean Indien, which is located in Antananarivo, Madagascar. Stephanie, the owner of AluMada, ensures a healthy and fair-paid work environment for the artisans who create the shapes, each one individually. Stephanie and I have known each other personally for many years and I am especially happy to partner with her in providing jobs for the Malagasy Artisans in her employ.
