These "Stone Dangle" earrings are actually not made with stones at all.
Designed and made in Manitoba, these "Stone Dangle" earrings bring the natural nicker nut, a drift seed that grows in tropical regions, together with a hand cast aluminum bead, made from smelted tin cans in the traditional smelting methods of Madagascar.
Distaff&Spindle sources the aluminum beads from AluMada, the Fonderie de l'Ocean Indien. Stephanie, the owner of AluMada, ensures a healthy and fair-paid work environment for the artisans who create the shapes, each one individually handcrafted. Stephanie and I have known each other personally for many years and I am especially happy to partner with her in providing jobs for the Malagasy Artisans in her employ.
One earring weighs approximately 13grams. Measures approximately 7cm total, 3cm of which is the surgical steel (non-allergenic) ear wire with latch back closure. No fussing with backings, nor risk of earrings jumping out of your ears!
