These Small Bicycles are made from tin-cans by Madame Odette and her family who live in Antananarivo, the capital city of Madagascar. I can string these small bicycles with thread to create a unique hanging ornament. These bicycles can also stand on their own with the functioning kick-stand. The wheels and pedals turn. When not used as a hanging ornament they look great standing on a bookshelf or desk. See photos of Madame Odette on our Artisans Page. These small bikes are a bit larger than the 'mini bicycles' which are listed separately, however they include the option of a front-mounted basket.
The last photo shows the 'small' bicycle in between the 'mini' and large bicycles, for size reference.
Most of the bikes are coloured similarly to the ones pictured. The one you order may not be the *exact* one seen in the photo. If you're looking for something specific please send me a note in the comment box and I will do my best to find what you're looking for. Otherwise, I just package based on colour preference.

-These bicycles are somewhat fragile and not recommended for playing with. They are meant for display only.
- Each individual bike comes with a small card explaining that it is made from tin-cans by Madame Odette in Madagascar. The card also directs the recipient to see photos of Madame Odette, the Maker, on the Distaff&Spindle Website. **To limit waste, if you are ordering multiple bicycles for yourself please do let me know in the comments so I can include only one Maker Info card.**
- One of our priorities at Distaff&Spindle is to cut down on as much waste as possible. For that reason these bicycles are packaged in a recycled kraft paper bag inside a sturdy recycled kraft box. When you receive your item(s) please do reuse or recycle the box and paper bag.
- Sending a gift? I will handwrite your message on a notecard to include in the box and I will package the paper bag with a pretty ribbon.
