Nickernut earrings are made with seeds in their natural state. I have only drilled a small hole to attach the hook for the earring. Nickernuts, or Bonduc Seeds, come from a shrub that grows near the ocean. Often they drop their seeds into the water, where they float for huge distances, many times planting themselves in entirely different countries. This is why NIckernuts are also called seed pearls and drift seeds. They display a lovely natural grain over their small grey orb-like shape.
I have used surgical steel ear wires for these earrings.
