Weeks ago I posted a survey online inquiring as to what people use their raphia baskets/bags for. I was surprised to hear some uses I hadn’t thought of.
What do YOU use your basket for?

Antananarivo, the city where we lived in Madagascar, went plastic-bag-less earlier than i ever thought possible. We quickly learned to use baskets for grocery shopping. *Just, BE CAREFUL – while they hold a large volume of items, the handles aren’t made to withstand too much weight. If you use baskets for groceries, dont carry by the handles!
As a beach bag
Handbag: I use mine for everyday outtings since it can easily hold my water bottle, notebook, phone, wallet, pens, keys, snacks, and a few items from my boys.
Storing towels in the bathroom or guest room.
Use as a ‘cache pot’ – to hide your plant pots. An quick way to brighten up a room!
Unfolded laundry in a cheerful basket looks way nicer! 😉
Library book bag and ‘cache pot’
To corral toys and stuffies in a child’s room. Also GREAT as a diaper bag, since baskets have a large opening to toss stuff in, yet can close up with a drawstring!
Blanket storage in the living room. Or, use it for a beach bag to carry your picnic blanket, towels, and beach paraphernalia.
